In conjunction with the special exhibition ‘Art of The Loom’ currently on at the National Textile Museum, Michelle Pease will examine the various techniques and traditions used in the production of these exquisite textiles of Southeast Asia.

Introducing MICHELLE PEASE

Michelle, an Australian has spent more than 20 years living in Asia; in Jakarta, Bangkok, Hanoi, and Kuala Lumpur. Since her first study group with the Indonesian Heritage Society in Jakarta in the early 90s, her passion, some may say her obsession, has been the beautiful hand woven textiles of this region. She has visited many weaving, dyeing and batik workshops in the region and participated in and led several Textile Study Group both in Indonesia and Thailand. She has also presented several lectures for the National Museum Volunteers in Bangkok and the Malaysian Culture Group in Kuala Lumpur.
